Network - the Movie
This winner of four acadamy awards satarizes the sickness and manipulation of TV news and the main stream corporate media. Prodced in 1976 it resonates louder and even sounds truer today. It's amazing how much today's problems, including the corporate media, are like those of the 70's.
Matrix - the Movie
Released in 1999, the Matrix depicts a future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality created by sentient machines to pacify and subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source. Upon learning this, computer programmer Neo is drawn into a rebellion against the machines, involving other people who have been freed from the "dream world" and into reality.
This movie is interpreted by many as a metaphor for the current state of our society in which most are asleep to the true nature of the world. It is only upon awakening from such a false dream that individuals discover true reality.
